A warm breeze, ocean waves, seabirds flying low over the water, and a golden sky that just keeps getting better—Tanya & Felipe’s Florida beach engagement session was a total dream.
We met for the first time on the sand, but it felt like we’d known each other for ages. Their energy was so easy, so joyful, and the beach gave us the perfect backdrop to capture it all on both digital and film.
Tampa, Florida Beach Engagement Session
Tanya & Felipe originally found my work online, and it just so happened that I was planning a trip to Tampa to visit my husband’s family. They spotted their city on my travel schedule and reached out to schedule their engagement session.
We met at the beach, right around golden hour, and from the moment we started shooting, everything felt relaxed and natural. The Florida coast has this calm magic about it—soft skies, warm light, and the perfect photo backdrop.
It’s one of those sessions that reminds you that all you really need for incredible photos is a couple who loves each other, a beautiful location, and some great light.
Treasure Island, Beach
We chose Treasure Island for their engagement photos—one of my favorite spots on the Gulf Coast. The beach stretches wide and quiet, with soft white sand and panoramic views of the sky and water.
As we wandered along the shoreline, seabirds danced in and out of frame, and the sunset shifted from soft pink to fiery orange. We tucked into the sand dunes for a few quiet moments, then finished with a barefoot walk in the surf as the sun dipped below the horizon.
There’s something about Treasure Island that feels personal. It’s not overly crowded, the light reflects beautifully off the water, and it offers that perfect mix of open beach and natural texture that makes every photo feel dynamic.
Sunrise vs. Sunset for Engagement Photos
When it comes to beach engagement photos, both sunrise and sunset have their own unique beauties.
Sunrise is peaceful, quiet, and a little more private. The beaches are practically empty, and the light is soft and cool—perfect for dreamy, pastel-toned photos.
Sunset, though, is all warmth and drama. The golden light, the reflections on the water, and that slow shift into twilight make it feel cinematic and romantic.
For Tanya & Felipe, sunset was perfect. The light wrapped around them like a warm hug, and the energy of the evening—people strolling, birds overhead, the tide rolling in—added a quiet rhythm to the whole session.
If you’re torn between the two, think about the vibe you want: quiet and intimate? Go for sunrise. Warm and golden? Sunset is your moment.
Film Inspired Engagement Photos
Beach light + 35mm film = actual magic.
I shot Tanya & Felipe’s session on both digital and film, and the film photos are some of my absolute favorites. The soft grain, the warm tones, and the natural highlights from the sun bouncing off the water gave the images a vintage, timeless feel.
There’s something about film engagement photos that just hits differently—especially at the beach. The way the waves move, the breeze tugs at your hair, the sun lights up your skin—film captures all of that with honesty and emotion.
If you’re drawn to that nostalgic, dreamy aesthetic, film is such a beautiful way to preserve this season of your love story.
