Congratulations on deciding on the Great Smoky Mountains, you will definitely not regret it! The Smokies in Tennessee are  truly one of the best places to have a romantic, mountainous, adventure elopement.

Whether you want to say your vows along the iconic Foothills Parkway, put on your hiking boots and trek into a waterfall, or rent out a little cabin tucked away in the mountains -- there is something here for everyone. 

I know just how overwhelming it can be at first when deciding to elope, especially if you have never visited Tennessee before! But, I will be here the whole time to guide you on your permits, ceremony location, back up plans for weather, literally anything you will need in your journey! 

I believe the most powerful images happen when couples feel truly present with each other and connected to the landscape & environment around them. My role is simply to provide you a space that you feel so comfortable to feel your connection – and thus document it as it unfolds.

I have been exploring the Smokies for years and have learned a TON about the region and I can't wait to share it all with you.

Foothills Parkway

Historic Spence Cabin can hold up to 40 guests and is perfect for an intimate wedding day. You can say your vows privately down by the rocks and rushing water or up in the pavilion in front of all your most special people. It is unique as it is one of the few places within the Great Smoky Mountains that is both accessible and set up for an intimate wedding.

Cades Cove sets in a bowl of mountains providing 360 degree views of the Smoky Mountains. Think wide open fields, tons of wildlife, and historic buildings! With wildflowers growing wild in the summer and trees every shade of orange in the fall. This location is the perfect spot to have the mountain backdrop for your elopement photos.

Known as one of the most scenic drives in the country, Foothills Parkway offers sweeping overlooks of the Smokies without any hiking required. As a Smoky Mountain elopement photographer, I love this stretch for its rolling fog in the morning, golden ridgelines by evening, and pull-offs perfect for an intimate ceremony.

Set atop Bluff Mountain with sweeping 180-degree views, The Trillium is one of the most photogenic venues in the Smokies — clean white walls, wide windows, and an open-air patio that frames the mountains like a painting. Sunset here is unbeatable, with golden light rolling across the ridgelines toward Pigeon Forge below. My favorite for a large wedding in the mountains!

Nichols Heir pairs modern architecture with Smoky Mountain scenery — think floor-to-ceiling glass walls at The Glass House and a stone pathway winding up to a mountaintop garden ceremony site. After being a landscape photographer for over a decade, I take a landscape focused approach into elopement days, which makes my art different.

Your photos will always be natural toned & composed purposefully to bring you back to the landscape you and your lover experienced together!

No silly poses, just meaningful memories you can take with you. I can definitely provide posing when you need it, but otherwise I will stand back and allow the day to unfold naturally between you two, snapping photos along the way.

What permits do we Need to Elope in the great smoky mountains?

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO elope in the smokies?

You will need a special use permit to have an elopement in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The cost ranges from $50-150 depending on where in the park you are planning to have your ceremony. The Smoky Mountains are one of the easier national parks to get a permit for! I will help you apply for this & we can talk through all the designated ceremony spaces that match your vision, so you can rest assured that your ceremony will be all set with the national park.

what other vendors will i need to find for our smoky mountains elopement?

i want to have some of our family present for our elopement. is that possible?

Totally! I shoot full weddings along with more intimate weddings and adventure elopements! There is so much beauty in both styles of wedding days. Reach out to me and I can give you a list of my favorite venues in the area for a full wedding. Or many Airbnbs in the Smoky Mountain region are built with the space to accommodate a mid size (50-80 person) wedding! My favorite spot for an intimate wedding (<40 person) still within the park is definitely Spence Cabin. 

The spring to fall season is the best time of year to elope in the Smoky Mountains. You may consider also opting to having a weekday elopement so you will avoid crowds in the park. The fall colors are absolutely spectacular to view and the spring yields endless wildflowers. You can't really go wrong with time of year in the Smoky Mountains.


There is so much to do in the surrounding areas of the Smoky Mountains. You could rent a cabin tucked in the mountains and wake up slow to have coffee on your balcony viewing the mountains. Or you could wake up at sunrise to hike Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the mountains, or to one of the many rushing waterfalls. There are museums and lots of attractions in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. My favorite is the Titanic museum! 

what activities should we do while we are in tennessee?

Most couples will have an officiant, a florist, and a photographer (that's me!). From there, you could have a baker for a cake, a caterer for a picnic, a guide for a jeep tour excursion, a videographer, the ideas are limitless! Reach out and we can brainstorm ideas on what other vendors you would want included in your elopement day in the mountains! I love to help with finding these vendors!
