There’s something about New York City that makes every moment feel a little more electric. The mix of history, texture, motion, and light—it’s the perfect blend of grit and beauty. Colleen & Billy’s NYC engagement session captured all of that and more as we explored the streets of Brooklyn with coffee in hand and cameras rolling on both film and digital.
NYC Film Engagement Photos
This session was full of movement, atmosphere, and New York energy. We started the morning early—with mist still hanging in the air and the city just beginning to stir.
Colleen & Billy live in NYC full time and are getting married this October at Belle Meade in Nashville, so this session was a beautiful nod to their everyday life in the city where their relationship has grown.
We explored:
A quiet subway station with soft light and that classic New York grit
A favorite coffee shop where we paused for a warm-up
The brownstone-lined streets of Brooklyn for something timeless and elegant
The Dumbo area with cobblestones, Manhattan Bridge views, and of course…
The Brooklyn Bridge, with its iconic architecture and sweeping skyline
Each spot gave us a different energy, and together they told a story that felt true to their lives and rhythm as a couple.
Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Photo Locations
The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most iconic photo spots in NYC for a reason. It offers a rare combination of classic structure, sweeping views of lower Manhattan, and pedestrian-only paths that feel cinematic at sunrise.
We made our way across the bridge in the softest morning light, letting the movement of the city pass behind us. Colleen & Billy moved through the space effortlessly—walking, pausing, laughing—and the result was a gallery that felt dynamic and completely authentic.
Dumbo NYC
Dumbo is one of my favorite places to shoot in NYC. The cobblestone streets, views of the Manhattan Bridge, and tucked-away alleyways create a setting that feels both historic and modern.
It’s also incredibly versatile. You get industrial lines, textured walls, bold light, and skyline moments—all within a few walkable blocks. We found pockets of golden light reflecting off the buildings and used the softness of the early rain to give everything a film-like haze.
Subway Engagement Photos
There’s nothing more “New York” than hopping on the subway for engagement photos. I love the contrast of motion and stillness—the grainy light, metallic textures, and fast-paced energy.
Colleen & Billy’s subway shots captured something totally unique: the realness of city life mixed with the quiet intimacy of just being next to your person in the middle of it all. We played with movement, used natural light in the tunnels, and leaned into the raw edges that make subway photos feel editorial and honest.
Sunrise NYC Engagement Session
We met before the sun came up and grabbed coffee before heading out to shoot. The rain had just cleared and the city felt still—like we had it all to ourselves for a moment.
Sunrise sessions in NYC are always worth the early wake-up call. You avoid the crowds, the light is soft and low, and there’s something sacred about walking through such a busy place while it’s still half-asleep.
This kind of session isn’t about big poses or overproduction—it’s about movement, connection, and storytelling. We let the locations speak for themselves and used the city like a film set, documenting everything on both digital and 35mm film.
Colleen & Billy
These two are the kind of couple that make you feel instantly at ease. Their chemistry is effortless—equal parts calm and playful. They trusted the process completely and brought such a grounded, intentional energy to their session.
Watching them move through their home city together made it so easy to photograph them authentically. Every photo felt like a snapshot of real life, elevated with the kind of light and texture that only NYC can offer.
NYC Wedding Photographer & Super 8 Films
NYC is one of my favorite places to shoot—especially on film. The light reflects differently off the buildings. The architecture tells its own story. The energy, even at sunrise, brings your gallery to life.
I offer both 35mm film photos and Super 8 wedding videos for NYC engagement sessions and wedding days. Film adds this nostalgic, editorial layer to your memories—it captures motion, emotion, and environment in a way that digital just can’t replicate.
If you’re planning a wedding in NYC or just want your love documented in a way that feels raw, honest, and timeless, I’d love to connect.
