There’s something about a vineyard wedding that feels effortlessly romantic. The golden light filtering through the vines, the scent of fresh flowers and crisp wine in the air, and the relaxed, elegant atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for a wedding day. Katie & Joe’s wedding at Vine Hill House in Sonoma County captured all of that and more.
Vineyard Wedding Venue: Vine Hill House
If you’re dreaming of a California vineyard wedding, Vine Hill House is one of Sonoma County’s hidden gems. Nestled among rolling hills and rows of grapevines, it offers a private and intimate setting with breathtaking views. The estate blends rustic charm with modern elegance, creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.
The ceremony site is framed by towering trees and lush greenery, providing dappled light and a natural canopy. For the reception, guests gather beneath bistro lights, surrounded by the warmth of the vineyard’s landscape. Vine Hill House feels like an elevated backyard wedding—intimate, laidback, and polished all at once.
What makes Vine Hill House truly special is its ability to feel both personal and spacious. The open fields and winding vines give it a sense of freedom, while the cozy barn and garden areas maintain that intimate energy. It’s the perfect mix of California cool and wine country charm.
Katie & Joe’s Intimate Wedding Day in California
The day was exactly what a vineyard wedding should be—relaxed, romantic, and full of genuine moments.
Katie wore a sleek gown from Vow’d Bridal, which perfectly matched the understated elegance of the venue. Her bouquet, crafted by her family, featured soft greenery and earthy-toned florals that reflected the natural hues of the vineyard. The whole look felt effortless and timeless.
They shared a private first look in the vineyard, reading letters to each other under the arch of vines. It was quiet and intimate—just the two of them, framed by the golden light of the afternoon sun. Afterward, we captured portraits among the vines and beneath the tree-lined archway at the venue entrance. The softness of the light and the natural textures of the landscape made every shot feel like a work of art.
The ceremony took place under the giant tree at the front of the property. A heartfelt Irish blessing and a wine-mixing ceremony added personal touches to the vows. The relaxed energy of the space made it feel more like a gathering of close friends and family than a formal event.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while soaking in the sunset views. The reception featured a brief cake cutting, followed by a moonshine tasting under the twinkle lights. The combination of earthy florals, gold accents, and soft lighting created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The day ended with dancing and laughter under the stars—a perfect close to a perfect day.
Having a Wedding Weekend in Sonoma County
A Sonoma County wedding isn’t just about the wedding day—it’s about the whole experience. Turning your celebration into a wedding weekend allows you to enjoy everything the region has to offer while spending more time with family and friends.
Here’s how to make the most of a Sonoma wedding weekend:
Winery Tour & Tasting – Kick off the weekend with a tasting at one of Sonoma’s iconic vineyards. A relaxed afternoon of wine and conversation sets the tone for the weekend.
Outdoor Adventure – Start the morning with a hike at Jack London State Park or explore the redwood groves at Armstrong Woods.
Farmer’s Market Stroll – The Healdsburg Farmer’s Market offers fresh flowers, baked goods, and local produce—a perfect way to spend a lazy morning.
Rehearsal Dinner Under the Stars – A relaxed outdoor dinner with string lights and wine pairings creates a cozy and welcoming vibe.
Katie and Joe kept things low-key, focusing on meaningful moments with close friends and family. Their wedding weekend felt like a natural extension of their relationship—simple, genuine, and grounded in love.
Sonoma County Wedding Photos on Film
Katie and Joe’s wedding was captured on 35mm film, which gave the photos a soft, organic feel. Unlike digital photography, film captures texture and light in a way that feels rich and timeless. The grain and warmth of the tones create an emotional depth that’s hard to replicate with digital.
Their sunset portraits in the vineyard were some of my favorites. The golden light wrapped around Katie’s dress and reflected off the vines, creating a natural glow that made every frame feel intimate and cinematic.
Reception photos captured the energy of the evening—guests laughing, glasses clinking, and the warm glow of the barn lights in the background. Film has a way of making moments feel more alive, more present. It doesn’t just show how the day looked—it captures how it felt.
