There’s something incredibly special about a Glacier National Park elopement in the middle of summer. The mountains feel endless, the lakes are that deep alpine blue, and the wildflowers start to bloom across the landscape in the most unreal way.
Emily and Zach planned an intimate elopement day in Glacier that felt equal parts adventurous and intentional. They wanted to be surrounded by nature, but also have space to celebrate with their closest people. Their vision was simple — mountain views, wildflowers, water, and a day that felt relaxed and meaningful from beginning to end.
With just their closest family members and friends there, the entire day felt grounded and personal. It wasn’t rushed or overly structured. Instead, it unfolded naturally, with moments of connection woven throughout.
Getting Married in the Wildflowers of Glacier
One of the most beautiful parts of a Glacier National Park elopement in the summer is the wildflowers. By late July and early August, fields of purple, yellow, and white flowers begin to fill the landscape.
Emily and Zach specifically envisioned portraits surrounded by wildflowers with the mountains in the background. That vision came to life as we explored different areas of the park. We found pockets of blooms with sweeping views behind them.
Wildflower locations in Glacier often require a bit of flexibility. Some are easily accessible, while others involve short hikes. For their day, we balanced both — keeping their ceremony location accessible for family while carving out time for a short adventure together for portraits.
Emily & Zach’s Elopement Day
Emily and Zach traveled to Glacier National Park because they wanted a day that felt intimate, outdoorsy, and true to them. They love being in nature, hiking, and trying new experiences together, so choosing Glacier felt like a natural extension of their relationship.
Their ceremony took place at Big Bend, a location known for its accessibility and expansive mountain views, which was important for their family members. Zach’s brother officiated the ceremony, making it even more personal, and they shared the moment surrounded by their closest people.
After the ceremony, we spent time capturing family portraits before Emily and Zach stepped away for portraits on their own. This part of the day felt especially quiet — just the two of them, exploring the park, walking through wildflowers, and taking in the landscape together.
They had envisioned a mix of candid, fun moments alongside more traditional portraits, with a nostalgic, film-inspired feel. The entire day reflected that balance perfectly.
Airbnb Reception & Intimate Dinner
After their time in the park, we headed back to their lodge where the evening shifted into something more relaxed and celebratory.
They shared their first dance surrounded by family, followed by an intimate dinner together. The atmosphere felt warm and unstructured — more like a gathering than a formal reception. At one point, Zach played piano in the lodge, which turned into an impromptu little dance party and one of those moments you couldn’t plan but never forget .
They had originally envisioned ending the night with dinner, drinks, and time spent together at the lodge, and it felt like the perfect close to a day that balanced adventure with connection.
Film Glacier Wedding Photos & Super 8 Video
Emily and Zach’s elopement was documented on both digital and film, including a Super 8 film that captured the movement and emotion of the day in a completely different way.
Film photography paired so naturally with their vision. The grain, softness, and subtle imperfections added to that nostalgic feeling they were drawn to from the beginning. Super 8 especially brought their day to life — the movement of the wildflowers, the wind through the mountains, and the in-between moments that made everything feel real.
